Weekend Wrapup – June 13, 2014

Wrapping up this great week with Friday the 13th goodness. I was invited to the Women in Entertainment Luncheon, by two other Women in Entertainment, in Carson, CA. (About 10 Miles South of Los Angeles) This was my first time at this event. It was so elegant and non-pretentious and such amazing energy from amazing women in all areas of entertainment. (Film, TV, Radio, Sports, Fashion, etc). The girl in me loved that one of the sponsors was Jimmy Choo. They had an amazing Jimmy Choo lounge and I was totally salivating over the shoes and especially the purses. (I’m currently going through a handbag purse addiction phase.)

Women in Entertainment LucheonI’m always branding
I can’t help it but the branding side of me is always on. My friend who in invited me to this event and who was being honored was resisting the red carpet pictures. I get that some people just prefer to be behind the camera, but when you’re a brand you have to remember “Brand You”. If you’re a leader have a following in the entertainment industry, which she has, the publicity and photos and such come with the territory. You can’t successfully build you and your brand hiding under the covers. “Embrace your awesome self and tell the world about it.

Women in Entertainment LucheonThe Sledge Grits Band
I definitely have to talk about the young girls who make up the awesome Sledge Grits Band, who were the entertainment for the Women In Entertainment Luncheon.  These cute, talented, sisters who play their own instruments were just electric.  I thought the most fabulous part was that they were having fun, doing what they love and had The Sledge Grits Band loving and supportive parents there in the audience encouraging their dream.  What can be more awesome then that. One of the highlights of their performance was by their drummer and youngest band member, who happened to be 12 years old, did one of the most amazing drum solos I’ve ever heard and to boot she was featured in one of the Apple’s iPhone’s national commercials.  I can’t wait to see their careers blossom.

Audition Time
Got the chance to play a drunk wedding officiant at an audition this week. Lots of physical comedy and had the CD and director cracking up in the process. Fun times.

More Branding Goodness
Had lunch with one of my favorite ongoing clients at a lovely quaint restaurant in Hollyood, Off Vine. If you’re ever in the Sunset and Vine area, you should go check it out. We got together to discuss how to expand and continue to find tune her already growing brand. As I’m moving more into mobile app development, I shared some ideas that I was testing and used my client’s branding as a case study as I know in my gut that a mobile app will definitely be a part of her branding.  I get so overjoyed when I work with clients who are open to amazing possibilities and the end result was to move forward with the mobile app for her brand and present a proposal for the ongoing process.

2nd Pilot Reading
The week was topped off with a second pilot reading for Guardians.  Bigger cast, more industry folks, including producers, directors and such.  I’m so excited for this project.  I can’t wait for it to make it way into a network that deserves it’s awesomeness and it would be even more awesome if I could play Miss Jasmin, the Voodoo Queen that I was reading for.

Now, off to make next week more awesome!
